March 1933. A young journalist from Wales, Gareth Jones, secretly arrives in Ukraine. At that time, the country was experiencing an unprecedented famine. Created by Stalin and kept secret, this famine had a political basis. Upon his return, Jones warns the world about it, but Soviet manipulations prove stronger. This film tells the story of an investigation that challenges powerful institutions. This is a story of mass crime and deception, as well as a story of the willingness to fight for the truth, no matter how difficult and dangerous that battle may be. After the film, we will meet with Mykhailo Romanov, the author of the submission to the International Criminal Court regarding the genocide committed by Russia in Mariupol. We will discuss the concept of genocide, the need for its evolution, and why it is crucial to fight for the recognition of the crimes in Mariupol as genocide.
